As a child Z'Hai (p:Za'Hey) looked up at the stars in the frozen sky of her homeworld, longing to soar among them. The opportunity presented itself when her application to Star Fleet Academy was accepted. There she excelled in marksmanship and Starship tactical combat, managing to "survive" the Kobiashi Maru exercise longer than any other member of her class. She also impressed her instructors with her hunger for historical data and literature. So much so that she was recommended to be assigned to the U.S.S. Enterprise for her cadet cruise.
It was on her first duty assignment (U.S.S. Paramore) that the burden of command was thrust on her by circumstances with the death of all senior staff above her.
Z'Hai was given command of the U.S.S. Stormbringer (Excalibur Class Cruiser) which was damaged beyond repair in battle with the Borg in the Regulus Sector.
She was in the Captain's Chair of the U.S.S. Annapolis (Cheyenne Class Cruiser), when their newest mission took her and her crew may truly take them "where no man has gone before"...and returned.
She currently commands the U.S.S. Chesapeake (Defiant Class Escort).
Z'Hai is in a relationship with Imeli-Roz, the current host of the Roz symbiote...the former host (Charon-Roz) was her lover (male) before his death. The relationship is generally happy, though the fact that Roz is now a female of the Trill species has made for some "interesting" and often awkward moments in the past.
She has worked with both Star Fleet Intelligence and Section 31* briefly as an operative, the details of those operations are classified.
She currently serves as the 2nd Division, Exploration Foundation as Department Head of the Borg Tactical Unit.
"Z" as she is frequently called, keeps dark secrets about her past hidden from all but those she has grown to trust.
