USS Paramore (before Z'hai took command)...
Z'Hai closed her eyes rubbing the bridge of her nose in an effort to relieve the tension that was growing into a massive headache, someone set a steaming cup of tea on the table next to her. The aroma that wafted up to her nose reminded her of the past...
"Oolong...with honey."
"You looked like you could use some, its your favorite edelweiss*."
...Z'Hai froze in place, the words belonged to Charon-Roz...but the voice belonged to...
"...Imeli?"
"Yeah Z, its me."
...Z'hai spun in her chair, her eyes full of anger...
"How do you know that?!?!"
"Z, relax...We need to talk."
...Z'Hai looked at Imeli's face, there she saw the unmistakable raised eyebrow and half smirk of the man she had buried almost 6 years before...
"Charon?"
"Yeah...sort of."
...Z'hai rose from her seat looking at the newly revealed "Roz". Her open hand moved like a serpent's strike hitting squarely and soundly on Imeli-Roz's cheek leaving a red handprint...
"All this time...all this time and you didn't tell me?!?!?"
"I'm sorry Z."
...once again Z'hai landed a sharp slap on Imeli's face...
"You bastard! All those times I told you how much I missed you...how much you meant to me and you couldn't tell me it was you?!?!?"
"I didn't know how you would handle the...difference Z (Roz opened her arms displaying that "he" was now obviously a "she"), I swear it was BECAUSE I cared that I didn't tell you."
...Z'hai let her hand fly again, unable to contain her anger and hurt. This time, Imeli-Roz caught her wrist stopping the slap from connecting...
"STOP IT V'Erin! Stop it right now!"
...Z'Hai locked eyes with Imeli-Roz, beginning a battle of wills. In "her" eyes she saw a spark that reminded her of Charon's irresistible power over her...she loved him and nothing could change that (not this), not even death. Slowly the tension in her arm faded, until the only thing holding her arm up was Imeli...
"...why?"
"Z, look at me...I'm not the man you loved. Hell, I'm not even a man anymore."
"...I don't care."
"What? You don't care?"
"...no."
"Z'Hai, Charon is just a memory."
"...but a memory that is a part of you right?"
"Yes."
"Then you remember what I told you."
"That you would never stop loving me, no matter what."
...Z'Hai nodded her head slowly, her anger completely gone...

"...and I told you that..."
"...you told me the same thing."
"...but Z, I'm different now, a different person."
...Z'Hai let out a breath as she summoned up the courage to speak her mind...
"Then give me the chance to know who you are now...please?"
"...but I'm a wo..."
...Z'Hai pulled Imeli-Roz into a kiss that held all of the affection and longing of the past six years as Imeli-Roz slipped her arms around Z'Hai "almost" out of habit...
"...I don't care."
"...okay, okay, I never could say no to you could I?"
...Z'hai just shook her head and grinned crookedly.
